Kintex 2

Facing their completed KINTEX1 (Korea International Exhibition Center) project across the Gaoyang City’s main street, DeStefano Partners and Sumsung Consortium again worked on its 1.6 million sf gigantic expansion –KINTEX2. Dynamic geometrical relationship ties the two phases together by extending the central axis and curvy pedestrian walkway, which link the KINTEX to downtown of Gaoyang and usher in an exciting public space for citizens of the city and her visitors. A sculptural tower with folded glass curtain wall is erected in-between the two phases to create a “Gateway” image for the project while look back towards the city. KINTEX2 provides continuous large-size exhibition space, which can be divided into flexible and smaller halls. Various sized meeting rooms and a grand ballroom are contained in a big dome clad with metal panels. The glassy tower has 215,300 sf office space.
